Answers
Q: How can I acquire the software or drivers for my RDM scanner?
The reseller or service provider you purchased the scanner from should have supplied an application. There are numerous applications for both PC and credit card terminal configurations. Many are third party applications. If it is a PC or a web-based application, drivers will be installed at time of initialization.
Q: How do I feed a check through the check scanner?
The check cannot be inserted into the scanner until the application allows it. This is indicated by the LED on the front of the scanner changing from Amber to Green. At this point you can insert the document. It must be fed with the MICR line to the right, and inserted squarely against the right edge of the feed tray as indicated by the icon on the scanner insertion tray.
Q: How come the LED on my scanner never goes Green?
The idle state for the scanner is solid Amber, it only changes to Green when the application instructs that a document is to be fed. Refer to the installation guides for more details on LED status.
Q: What do beeps mean after scanning?
- One short beep with the LED flashing Green indicates that the unit was successful in reading the MICR line
- Three short beeps with the LED flashing Red indicates that the unit was not successful in reading MICR line.
- One long beep with the LED flashing Red indicates that an error occurred during processing of the captured image.
- One beep during power up sequence is part of self diagnostic test.
Q: How come my check scanner does not Frank?
If you are not able to frank, make sure that your scanner model has the option to Frank. Take a look at the label plate under the device and the model number should end with an F (which means it is a Franking device). If it does not have an F, you have not purchased a scanner with that option. If you do have an F, make sure the Franking Acknowledgement roller is installed. Like most print devices, the franker comes in a sealed package within the same carton your scanner was shipped. The installation instructions are with the sealed package.
Q: How do I order a replacement franker for my check scanner?
The RDM Franking Acknowledgment roller for EC6000, EC7000, EC7500, RDM SYNERGY and RDM SYNERGY II (RDM P/N 6000-6050) can be purchased through most of our distributors and resellers.
