Q:
When I power up my scanner, after POST, the LED is solid Red.
A: A solid red light after POST means that the scanner did
not successfully pass its self-test.
This
means that there is a piece of hardware in the scanner that
did not respond to the test.
The
solid red light can also be caused by a mis-configuration
of the scanner parameters, for example, if a non-modem scanner
that has been configured as a modem scanner, the LED will
show a solid red light.
If
you have verified that the scanner has not been mis-configured,
and you still have a solid Red LED, please contact your supplier
to get the scanner repaired.
If
RDM is your supplier, please call 1-866-479-5981 to get an
REA (Return Equipment Authorization) Number, to have the unit
returned to RDM for service.
Q:
When I scan a document, there are three beeps from the scanner,
and the LED is flashing red.
A: This means that the MICR line was not correctly read by
the scanner. Try another check to eliminate the possibility
of a faulty MICR line.
If
the problem occurs with multiple documents, please contact
your vendor, or follow your procedures for servicing the unit.
Q:
When I scan a check, the LED on the scanner alternates from
green to red and I get an error in processing the check.
A: Move the scanner away from any electrical or magnetic interference,
such as a power supply or a large monitor, and then power
cycle (turn off and then back on) the scanner.
If
the problem persists, contact your hardware vendor or follow
your procedures for servicing the unit.
Q:
After I scanned a document, the LED flashed green for a few
seconds. Is there something wrong with my scanner?
A: When the LED is flashing green, it means that it is processing
the last document.
This
will happen with all scanners and does not mean that there
is something wrong with the scanner.
Q:
Do I need an extra phone line for the scanner?
A: NO, you do not need an extra phone line for the scanner.
The
scanner will be able to work off the phone line you have for
the terminal.
In
order to achieve this, connect a telephone cord from the RJ11
port (Port A), from the scanner into the RJ11 port on the
terminal, and have another telephone cord running from the
terminal to the wall socket.
This
way, both modems, the scanners' modem and the terminals modem
will work on the same phone line.
Q:
What happens if power outage?
A: The images that are stored in the scanner will stay in
the scanner's memory, even if there is a power outage.
They
can only be deleted if a command is passed to the scanner
to delete the images.
